TESCO BAGS OF HELP – UPDATE

GOOD NEWS – Holbeach Cemetery Chapels Trustees are delighted to have been awarded £2000 by Tesco Bags of Help. Many thanks to everyone who put their blue tokens in the Cemetery Chapels slot during November and December.

The funding from Heritage Lottery finishes in March, but the funding from Tesco will ensure we can continue to provide events and activities during 2018 for the local community, supporting our vision of the future for this beautiful heritage site in Holbeach.

Bids will be submitted in 2018 with the aim of securing funding to refurbish the Chapels and formulating a sensitive and appropriate business plan for their use for many years to come.

ACT OF REMEMBRANCE

On Sunday, 5th November the Holbeach Cemetery Chapels Group  shared a special Act of Remembrance with Royal British Legion members, Army Cadets and members of the public,  for all those who died in two World Wars and who are either buried or remembered in the Holbeach Cemetery.

The Royal British Legion led a Service of Remembrance.  About 40 people attended the service.

Poppies were placed by all the War graves.    Patrick Halford gave a brief summary of the person’s life and contribution to the wars.

Light refreshments were served in the South Chapel after the event.
